About this painting

"Peace I Give Unto You" conveys a message of support and encouragement, inspired by a personal story. "This is a really, really special one," Lee says, reflecting on the deep meaning behind the artwork. Lee sought to create something that spoke to the experience of men, acknowledging that "men don't feel like they can have hard times or talk about those hard times." The painting depicts a moment of divine reassurance and strength, "both the man's hands are holding one of Christ's hands." This image serves as a visual representation of Christ's promise to lift us up, especially in times when we may struggle to acknowledge our vulnerabilities. Lee emphasizes that this piece is for everyone who has felt weighed down, offering them a reminder that "I'm being lifted by Christ and it's good to grab onto Christ with both hands." The artist's intention is clear: she wants viewers, particularly men, to see this painting and recognize their own experiences, to know that not only is it acceptable but it is necessary to reach out for help. "And he's gonna lift you with his other hand," Lee explains, portraying a Christ who is always ready to provide the strength needed to rise above life's challenges.
