Lee created this piece as an affirmation to herself, "I had to paint something so that I could remember this always; because I forget the message often." The image shows a woman reaching upward, transforming the darkness that surrounds her into radiance, symbolizing Lee's resolve to "take that darkness and... create it into something beautiful."
